Fun Findings: Pew Survey on Gun Ownership In America

Pew conducted the survey Feb. 13-18 with 1,504 adults.

Two findings that surprised me:
  • About a quarter of Americans (24%) say they personally own a gun, rifle or pistol.
  • Most Americans (57%) say they do not have a gun in their household.

A good, 4-minute overview of the results ran on NPR's All Things Considered.

Full details of the survey can be found here

Note: I grew up in a house with (responsibly-stored) guns. I am by no means anti-gun. However, I was really struck by (and am still processing) the title of this NY Times editorial from 12/20/12: "The National Rifle (Selling) Association"
